Some thoughts concerning our products.
How you should act and think concerning sustainability is not for others to decide – you and you alone must bring this into your daily life. Sustainability is like looking into the future -and not just right here and right now. And often the good solutions are just in front of you.
Its also about choosing products that are made to last for a long time. Doing so is equivalent to use less raw material on the long run.
Imagine a Rolls Royce car. Its hand-built and of quality products. Do you take care of the car and maintain it properly it will last your lifetime. The car is VERY expensive but do you compare this price to the price you have to pay for lets say 10-15 cheaper cars in your lifetime you’ll properly end up paying more for those many cars than the one Rolls Royce. A slightly exaggerated example but a general illustration for sustainability.
Cheap products are expensive for you and the environment in the long run.
As quality is good for the environment – and your wallet.
The products you will find here on our website are handmade from materials like : Wool, Cotton, Paper, Carton, Ink, Pen and Leather using a minimum of electricity, computers and with as much possibilities for re-usage. Our products are made locally at Sohojhus or at other local companies around Europe.
The materials for our products comes primarily from EU countries and we try our best to avoid buying from companies that do not have Sustainability or Decent Working conditions for their Company and Employees as their priority.
At Sohojhus we do whatever is possible to get informed about knowledge – both locally and international – securing that the products we use and sell contains as many re-usable components as possible.
It is not all our Suppliers who will or can give us these information.
Whenever you get to the point where the product you have bought at Sohojhus has become of no more interest – or worn out, the materials we use for our products can be re-used. Either give the product away to someone else or make sure that you get rid of the product accordingly to the regulations for waste handling you have where you live.
